We were delighted to welcome Helena Golden from the Heritage Council to our school, where she introduced the children to the traditional craft of willow weaving.
Our 5th and 6th Class pupils had the exciting opportunity to design and build an outdoor dome, showcasing their creativity and teamwork. The results were truly fantastic, with the children crafting beautiful pieces while learning a valuable new skill.
Take a look below at the stunning baskets and decorative fish they created. The pupils also incorporated natural materials from their surroundings, including dogwood and ivy, making each piece even more unique and special.
We are hosting a parents workshop on Digital Safety on Thursday 27th Feb at 7.30pm . We encourage as many parents as possible to attend to help keep up to date with new trends .
Thank you to Garda Tania Duffy, who visited our school to speak to the children about Internet Safety. She provided lots of very useful advice and practical tips to help them stay safe online. The children found the talk engaging and informative, and it was a valuable reminder of the importance of making safe and responsible choices when using the internet.
The girls represented Croghan N.S. in the Primary School Swimming Championships in Galway recently . We are so proud of both girls who have qualified for the National Finals in Dublin in March . Best of Luck !!
This week, pupils explored the story and traditions of St Brigid and helped keep this important cultural practice alive by weaving St Brigid’s Crosses. Here is an excellent example of the beautiful work completed by our 6th Class
Thank you to the team from BINIT who gave us a very entertaining and informative interactive workshop on the environment and littering . They were very impressed with our students and recognised how important keeping our environment clean and tidy is to every on e of them .
We were very fortunate to have Roisin O Regan from Irish Water Safety visit our classes on 18th Nov to teach us all very important lessons on water safety . We learned how to use ring bouys properly , the importance of wearing life jackets when on boats or around the waters edge ,and also what to do in an emergency . Senior classes were also taught how to escape from rip tides and how to recognise the presence of rip tides . Thank you Roisin .
Our student council have been very busy planning events for the coming year . To boost their funds they have decided to run a bake sale during the Parent Teacher meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday 11th and 12th November . Don't forget to bring a few coins to pop in the honest box and grab your treats .

We are delighted to announce that €300 was raised over the 2 days ! Well done to all involved !
This year we signed up to a new reading initiave to co-incide with our Book Fair this year . The children signed up online and pledged to read every night for 3 weeks and received sponsorship from their friendsw and families . This was a great success and many children developed a new love of reading . A total of €2300 was raised , which will be put towards the school. Our scholastic book fair also took place in October . This also raised €1600 in free books for the school . Thank you to all who took part in both initiaves - your support is very much appreciated .
Thank you to everyone who donated shoeboxes again this year for the Team Hope Shoe Box Appeal . We had over 75 boxes in total which will make alot of children very happy on Christmas Day .
What a special ocassion our Christmas Carol service turned out to be . Well done to all the children who performed beautifully and set the christmas spirit alight . Thank you for all the generous donations on the night which totalled €850 .
Our annual Halloween Parade took place again this year - Lots of strange creatures were to be seen around the corridors !!! We held our Halloween parade and had lots of fun guessing who was beneath the costumes.
What a fantastic day was had for Grandparents day in June 25. Glorious sunshine bathed our yard as we welcomed our grandparents to our School . We were very excited to perform for them . Our student council manned the tea table and served everyone with delicious treats that were donated by the parents . Our grandparents got to visit our classrooms and view some of our artwork on diplay and meet our teachers and friends too .
